Kallianpur, Jul 19: With an objective to make students enjoy and learn the world of colours in a practical and creative way 'Yellow color day' was organised at Milagres Kindergarten School on Friday July 19 near here.
It was a festive day as everything was painted yellow breaking the routine of daily classes.
This year being the 40th year of the birth of Milagres Kindergarten School, several innovative programmes of fun and frolic have been planned by the management to make learning at school fun and also to make this jubilee year a memorable one.
Yellow in general stands for warmth, sunshine, hope and happiness. It also has conflicting connotations. On the one hand, yellow stands for freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honour, loyalty and joy. On the other, it represents fear, cowardice and dishonesty. The purpose of organising 'Yellow Colour Day' was to help the kids brighten up like a sunflower and connect with the world of colours which is dear to them. They learn about the colour they see as well as they learn to appreciate things that are yellow.
In the morning, children walked into the school premises in their best attire of different shades of yellow. The tiny tots were asked to bring several things from their homes bearing yellow ranging from dolls, boxes, pillows to flower, stationary and craft items. They joyfully brought snack boxes filled with bananas, egg yolk, pineapples, laddus and jalebis which were yellow.
Colourful play items like racing cars, balls, balloons and smileys marked the day’s glamour quotient. The kids were thrilled to pose in their favourite dresses and toys.
The short programme began with a prayer song. Several action songs related to yellow were sung. Several students came forward to describe the things they had brought bearing yellow. The teachers trained them well to speak confidently.
The classes were adorned with yellow screens and yellow items. About 170 kids were thrilled with this unique celebration for the first time in their life. Sweets were distributed to them. Students who shone in complete and best yellow attire were rewarded with prizes.
This day was indeed a memorable and promising day for the future. Kindergarten staff Shwetha, Wilma, co-ordinator, Renita and Precilla together planned the event along with the headmaster and headmistress. This was the first time a colour day was organised at Milagres Kindergarten School.
