Mangaluru: Carmel School Kotekar celebrates school feast

Mangaluru, Jul 18: The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, patroness of the school was recently amidst great joy and fervour by the management, teachers and students of Carmel School Kotekar.

Thanking God for his blessings on the institution through the intercession of mother Mary, the day began with a solemn eucharistic celebration by Fr Alfred Menezes OCD. During mass, few students were initiated into Carmel Blossoms family. Scapulars were blessed and distributed to the students.

A cultural programme was presented by the students of class VIII in the morning for higher secondary section and by the students of class IV and V in the afternoon for primary section. The programme began with a beautiful prayer service followed by a welcome dance. A skit on the importance of brown scapular was enacted and message conveyed that whoever wears the scapular will be protected from all danger and harm. A mime was enacted on the importance of mother Mary in the lives of the people.



Addressing the students, the chief guest Fr Alfred Menezes enlightened the students about Carmel as a garden and a mountain and the role of Mother Mary in one’s life.

The students of class IV and V enacted a short skit on respecting their elders which was followed by a beautiful action song, jokes and foot tapping dances by both the primary and high school students. Diana was present on the dais. Sr Jennifer Moras the principal, appreciated the students for staging the beautiful programme and encouraged them to bloom into beautiful flowers in the garden of Carmel practicing the virtues of mother Mary.

Adithi, Rthvi, Sancthitha, Anshul compered the programme. Zulfa, Fathima and Hardik proposed the vote of thanks and Avishka welcomed the gathering.
