Mangaluru, Jul 9: In the competitive world today, it is not degrees alone but skills that take us far, understanding the importance of skill development, in addition to the regular degree programmes, Milagres College initiated and incorporated various value added programmes into its curriculum for the benefit of students.
The inauguration of the add-on courses for the academic 2019-20 was held on July 6. Wilma Fernandes the add-on coordinator welcomed the resource persons and the gathering.
The chief guest Don Andrew D’Souza in his message said such certificates and add-on courses help in laying a good foundation for a student’s career as they learn new skills.
Fr Micheal L Santhumayor in his presidential remarks said the college focuses on identifying and tapping the talents and skills of the students through such courses and prepare them for a better future.
Coordinators of the add-on courses– Beautician by Sharmila Rao, dramatics by Mithesh Neil Crasta, French language by Gloria Kamath, photography by Rajiv Shenoy, crafting and embroidery by Harina Rao, yoga by Yogaranthna Delampady Gopalakrishna, first aid by Sr Margaret, journalism by Fr Richard D’Souza, event management by Deepak Ganguli, Tally and basic computer course by Jasmine Serrao, soft skills by Prof Lourdsamy, spoken English by Anusha Jose, culinary arts (cooking) by Denzil D'Costa.
