Mangaluru, Jul 7: St Aloysius Gonzaga School held its parent-teacher’s annual general body meeting for the academic year 2019-20 on Saturday, July 6, in the school hall.
The vice president of Mangaluru Jesuit Educational Society and rector of St Aloysius institutions, Mangaluru, Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, guest speaker Supriya Hedge, consultant psychiatrist, Father Muller Hospital, principal Rev Fr Melwyn Lobo SJ, vice principal Jacintha D’Costa were the dignitaries for the day.
Rev Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, in his message highlighted the challenges involved in raising the present generation. According to him, these challenges are overcome by spending quality time with children, helping them discover their real talent, allowing them to ask questions and when parents play the role of a facilitator, they serve a positive impact and help in raising children in the right way.
The resource person for the day addressed the gathering on parenting skills and provided guidance on how to aim at the social and emotional development of children and adolescents. She highlighted on what is good parenting in terms of giving children what is needed according to their age and how to not be a liberal parent by fulfilling all their desires.
The principal, spoke about the priorities of St Aloysius Gonzaga School by highlighting the achievements. He then introduced all the teaching staff and put forth certain important instructions before the parents. Further, the election of the new parent-teacher executive committee (PTEC) was conducted and new PTEC was constituted.
In the beginning of the event, the invocation was carried out by Arthur and other faculty members, Anila John compered the programme, Aparna Suresh welcomed the gathering, Rasha D’Souza, the counsellor introduced the guest speaker and Vidya Esther rendered the vote of thanks. The meeting then concluded with singing of the national anthem.
