Mangaluru, Jul 2: The departments of Botany and Economics of St Agnes College, organised ‘Vanamahotsava - Connecting people and nature' on Monday, July 1.
The chief guest, P Shreedhar, range forest officer, Mangaluru division, addressing the gathering gave a call to the students to protect forest and inspired them to love nature.
The honourable guests P Shreedhar, RFO, Mangaluru division, Sr Dr Maria Roopa, joint secretary, St Agnes Institutions, Sr Dr Carmel Rita, administrator, St Agnes College, Sr Dr M Venissa, vice principal and HOD of Economics, St Agnes College, Shubharekha, dean administrator, St Agnes College, together with the student representative, planted the fruits and herbal saplings in the college grounds.
St Agnes College, standing strong for the past 100 years and giving out young women graduates, is now at the verge of celebrating its centenary in the year 2020. In connection to this event the organisers distributed 100 saplings to the 100 interested students, wishing them all success, may they grow bold and strong, spreading their fame far and wide.
‘Beat Air Pollution’ is the Vanamahotsava motto for the year 2019. It is celebrated in 160 countries all over the world.
