Moodbidri: MITE organises AICTE sponsored FDP for student induction

Moodbidri, May 14: A three-day faculty development workshop for student induction was inaugurated at Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) on Tuesday, May 14.

The workshop is sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is organized from May 14 to 16. The workshop was inaugurated by Ramesh N, regional officer and assistant director, South West Regional Office, Bengaluru, AICTE. Rajesh Chowta, chairman, MITE presided over the function. Also present for the programme were Vandana Singhal, state academic co-ordinator, AICTE, Prof Chikkanna, VTU co-ordinator, and Dayal, AICTE.

The main motive behind this workshop is to train faculties from various colleges who in turn shall facilitate the same to the students of their respective colleges. In his inaugural speech, Ramesh N emphasized on the importance of student induction in Engineering course for the duration of 3 weeks. He mentioned that AICTE has changed its form from being a regulatory body to facilitating body. The student induction program is designed to enhance the life skills of the students and turn them into a better individual, to help gain a holistic outlook to their aspiration and act selflessly on behalf of the society. He also mentioned that to motivate the students to achieve excellence, de-stress them and help them understand their subjects beyond the scope of books and curriculum.

In his presidential address, Rajesh Chowta, chairman, MITE appreciated the initiative taken by AICTE towards introducing induction programme for first-year engineering students as it helps in familiarization of the new environment, identifying their talent, teaching them various professional etiquettes and promote bonding between the students.

Uddhav Kumar is the resource person for the workshop. The workshop will focus on providing directions to the Faculty to bridge the gap between the students and their goals and responsibility towards the nation.

Dr G L Easwara Prasad, principal, MITE welcomed the gathering. Dr Asha Crasta, local organizer of the programme rendered the vote of thanks.
