Moodbidri, Apr 15: Students of Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) Moodbidri won third prize in the Annual 10th Edition of UNISYS All India Project Competition Cloud 20/20.
The finals of the prestigious competition happened in Bengaluru. The team comprising of Final Year Students of Electronics and communication Engineering Sana Parveen Salar, Sharadhi A Patil, and Final year Information science and Engineering Students Amogh A Rao and Suchithra got the III Prize for their Project ‘Smart Telematics System”. Ramalingam H M, Senior Assistant Professor, Dept of ECE guided the students in the Project.
The team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1 lac. The award was handed over by Vishal Gupta, Senior Vice President, Technology and Chief Technology Officer, Unisys and Nageswara Rao (KNR), vice president - Engineering, Asia Pacific Technology Centers, Unisys. MITE has entered the finals of the prestigious event for four years. In the year 2017, MITE had won the second prize.
About the project
Smart telematics system, an infotainment system comprising of various features for automobiles to ensure safety and security of vehicles. The system provides Artificial intelligence to the vehicle to recognize the driver, based on this it capable of providing parental control, license verification, Artificial passenger, Navigation based assistance and make sure the use of helmet in two wheelers.
About Cloud 20/20
Launched in 2009, Cloud 20/20 has traditionally been a collaboration between Unisys and academia. This contest aims to provide engineering students across the country with a platform to offer innovative ideas around disruptive technology trends. It is open to research students, post-graduates as well as pre-final and final year engineering students in Computer Science, Information Technology, and other related fields. Students can submit project ideas in broad technical areas as per the contest guidelines. These ideas will be evaluated by the Unisys Technical team, and based on the innovation/merit of the idea, selected for the next round, where students will work on their project idea and demonstrate it. As per the data released by Unisys,This year's contest featured more than 270 colleges and over 300 projects, as students were challenged to think outside the box and develop innovative ideas.This year focus is on moulding ideas to real life solutions. This recognizes that the Indian IT industry is constantly changing and requires these bright minds to create the technology of the future. The primary aim of Cloud 20/20, one of India’s largest Annual technical project contests is to spark innovative thinking around the latest disruptive technologies, and also to bridge the gap between Industry and academia. The students were supported by Project Guides from the college and as well as Unisys. Unisys India will offer the finalist teams employment opportunities also
