Mangaluru: FOCUS conducts career guidance programme

Mangaluru, Apr 8: Forum of Christians United Services (FOCUS) in association with the diocese south warado conducted a workshop on career guidance and opportunities in Government Services on April 7 at St Sebastian Church hall Permannur for tenth and PUC students.

Member of Karnataka Public Service Commission Government of Karnataka Dr Ronald Anil Fernandes was the chief guest. In the inaugural address Dr Ronald Fernandes emphasized the need for higher education. In this regard the parents should not force children to choose the career instead they should see what actually children are interested in.

Further, each student not only excels in studies, but also in extracurricular activities. They should read newspapers daily and inculcate public speaking so that they can choose either KPSC or UPSC posts.



Parish priest Fr J B Saldahna chaired the function and said children should study well and they are our future nation builders. They should serve the nation for the betterment of our country. In the present scenario there is need for selfless public servants so that deprived section of society is benefitted.

Resource persons Dr Norbert Lobo and Prof Steevan Quadras convener Sushil Noronha, Church Parish Council vice president Melwyn Dsouza, secretary Ronald Fernandes were on the dais.

FOCUS president Peus D’Souza, welcomed the gathering, secretary Denita D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks, John D’Souza compered the programme.

More than hundred students from about ten parishes participated in the workshop.

FOCUS former presidents Pradeep D’Souza and Maurice Dsouza also executive committee members Basil Rodrigues, Cyril D’Souza, Franky Cutinha, Santosh D’Souza, Roshan Ferrao, Melwyn D’souza Alwyn Kotian and Mary were present on the occasion.
