Udupi, Mar 27: Department of PG and PhD studies in Dravya Guna Vijnana in association with Herb Garden Committee, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara College of Ayurveda, hosted the World Forest Day celebration at Rajavana, medicinal herb garden on March 21.
Resource person, Dr K R Ramachandra, professor and head from department of Shalakya Tantra presided over the event and educated the audience about the necessity of conservation of Forest.
Convener of Herb Garden Committee Dr Suma V Mallya, associate professor, department of Dravyaguna vijnana gave a talk on the topic ‘Forest and education’ Dr Shrikanth P, professor and head, department of Dravyaguna vijnana, delivered a Presidential address on the topic ‘Protection of Forest, A social responsibility’.
Name plates were released by the dignitaries and they also inaugurated the agenda of irrigating plants in summer. Dr Ramadevi, professor, department of Prasooti Tantra and Stree Roga and Dr Mohammed Faisal, associate professor, department of Dravyaguna Vijnana opined that these type of programmes are nature friendly and are to be inculcated in day-to-day life.
Dr Niveditha Shetty, assistant professor, department of Dravyaguna Vijnana, welcomed the gathering and vote of thanks was rendered by by Dr Thejaswi Naik, assistant professor, department of Dravyaguna Vijnana. Dr Pallavi Kashyap compered the event. Second year BAMS students and post graduate scholars from the department of Dravyaguna Vijnana were also present in the event.
