Mangaluru, Mar 9: A national conference on 'Empowering Human Resource for Quality Care' was organized by the faculty and MSc and PBBSc Nursing students of Athena College of Nursing on March 8 at Athena College auditorium.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the chief guest Sr Aileen Mathias, chief nursing officer of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, Deralakatte. In her address she emphasized the need of empowering today’s women and how nurses can contribute toward empowering the women of today.
R S Shettian, chairman of Athena Institute of Health Sciences presided over the function and Asha Shettian, secretary, Athena Institute of Health Sciences graced the occasion by sharing the dais.
Sr Dhanya Devasia, principal of Athena College of Nursing welcomed the gathering. The dais was also graced by Dr Sr Alphonsa Ancheril, vice principal and organizing chairperson, Sunitha Dsouza, HOD of Community Health Nursing Department and staff organizing secretary and Priya student organizing secretary.
Melba Drago, lecturer, Medical Surgical Nursing department Charishma, associate lecturer Paediatric Nursing department compared the programme.
Sunitha Dsouza, staff organizing secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Sr Aileen Mathias, Fr Dionysius Vaz S J, rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Mangaluru, Jyothi Pinto, HR manager, FMCI, Dr Sajith Kumar, associate professor, Govt College of Nursing, Calicut were the resource persons for the various sessions.
Around 220 delegates from the colleges of Kerala and Karnataka attended the conference.
