Mangaluru, Mar 2: To generate interest and to bring out the hidden talents in high school students on clean energy, a few engineering students of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), here, along with staff members recently conducted an outreach programme at St Raymond's High School for students of class IX. As many as eight young engineers from second year Electrical and Electronics Engineering volunteered as trainers for the event. They trained 45 high school students.
The programme provided basic knowledge on clean energy sources like solar, wind and DC powered equipment. Awareness was created about Green Good deeds through project demonstrations. A symbolic gesture of mounting an LED tube light replacing a conventional fluorescent lamp was also made during this clean energy drive. This programme was an initiative of Power Engineers Association for Clean Energy (PEACE) and ISTE-SJEC Student Chapter. The programme was coordinated by Dr Sheryl Colaco and Deepesh Kanchan.
The programme was highly appreciated by the headmistress and students of St Raymond’s School. Student volunteers for the event included Aaron Pinto, Shreesha, Sandesh Nayak, Prathik, Dhanush, Gladson, Pallavi Poojary and Vaishnavi Devadiga.
