Mangaluru, Jan 4: The grieving parents of a youth who met with an accident on state high way at Bilinele near Kukke Subramanya after which he was injured and his brain stopped functioning, have donated his organs. Harinaksha (32) from Vital Mangalapadavu, a bus conductor by profession, was moving in his motor bike early morning on Wednesday when a group of foxes suddenly crossed his path from the adjoining forest. As the animals brushed against the vehicle, both the people on the bike had fallen down.
The accident had happened on December 31, when Harinaksha was moving to Subrahmanya temple along with a friend, Santosh Kumar in his motor bike. In the accident, he had suffered severe injuries. He had been admitted to a private hospital here in critical condition. Harinaksha breathed his last on Wednesday night. As his head had taken most of the impact of the accident, his brain had stopped functioning.
After the family of the youth agreed to donate his organs, harvesting of organs began at 4 am on Thursday January 3. At 7.30 am the same day, the harvested organs were taken to the airport hero in zero traffic condition from where they were dispatched to Bengaluru.
The pillion rider, who was also injured in the accident, is being treated. A case about the accident was registered at Kadaba police station.
