Kundapur, Jan 4: The case that occurred four years ago, in which a lady, who went missing, after she left the house saying that she is going to a relative's house has taken a surprised twist. Kundapur police have registered a FIR as per the orders of the high court against six accused and are conducting investigation. As per the orders of the high court, the accused are identified as Harsha, owner of the Maruti Omni in which the missing lady Malathi Shetty was taken, Huliya, Gopal (Cheenkra), Dinesh, Sandeep and Pradeep (Soora).
Malathi Shetty (65), a resident of Hebbagilu Mane, Kandavara Charukottige of Korgi village near here went missing after she left her house on June 24, 2015, saying that she is going to the house of one of her relatives. Satish Shetty, son of Malathi, who works as a software engineer in USA came down to India on July 4, 2018 to search for his missing mom. Though a case was filed in this regard in the Kundapur police station, the police failed to trace Malathi Shetty.
The missing Malathi Shetty was wearing jewelry worth Rs 3.7 lac on her when she went out of the house. There was also a suspicion that someone might have caused some harm to her in order to rob the jewelry that she was wearing at the time she went missing. However, as Malathi Shetty could not be traced and police also did not arrive at any conclusion Sathish Shetty, son of Malathi Shetty filed a habeas corpus petition in the high court urging to find his missing mom. When the high court took up the inquiry with regards to the habeas corpus petition filed by Satish, it received an anonymous letter. Based on this anonymous letter, the high court has ordered the police to register an FIR against six people. It is learnt that the anonymous letter says that Malathi Shetty is suspected to be murdered and there are evidences against the accused people.
All possibilities of unearthing the reality of the missing of Malathi Shetty are seen now and the missing case is likely to be turned into a planned murder. It is said that Karunkar Shetty, neighbour of Malathi Shetty has revealed to his friends that he has murdered Malathi Shetty and looted the gold she was wearing at the time of the crime. It is said that Karunakar Shetty was boasting about this murder under the influence of alcohol in a bar and this was heard by Sudhir, Vijay and Sukumar, who were having drinks in the table next to him. However, complete information is still awaited.
