India's Tour of Pakistan Called off

New Delhi, Dec 18: India's cricket tour of Pakistan has officially been called off.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India was told by the government not to proceed with the tour taking into account the "recent develoments in Mumbai", a top Board official said on Thursday.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Sports Minister M S Gill also personally talked with BCCI president Shashank Manohar to convey their decision.

India was scheduled to tour Pakistan from January 6 to February 19 for five one-dayers and three Tests, subject to government clearance. But the political scenario appeared to be grim after it was found that the terrorists that attacked Mumbai were allegedly Pakistan citizens trained there.

Gill had last week said it is not the right time to play cricket with Pakistan when "people from their soil are indulging in mass murder in India".

"Is it possible for one team to arrive in Mumbai and indulge in mass murder, and have another team go and play cricket in the winter afternoon sun at Lahore immediately after?," he asked.

    That was of immense pleasure. A lot of lamentation by Pak was there about how much loss would the cancellation of tour cause to Pakistan. Who cares ? Pakistan can shut her eyes to terrorists being trained in her bossom to carry out attacks on India, do they have any idea how much loss that caused to India ? Why should India care what causes them loss or gain ? Hereafter there should be no cricket matches with Pakistan - not at-lease Pakistan clears out present mess !
