Belagavi, Dec 14: The state assembly, on Thursday December 13, gave its nod to Good Samaritan and Medical Professional (Protection and Regulations during Emergency Situations) Bill, 2016. The bill proposes to block criminal or civil cases being registered against the medical professionals or life savers during emergency situations during an accident.
State health minister, Shivanand Patil, explained about the importance of passing this bill in order to turn it into a law. He said that this act will come to the rescue of people and doctors who try to save lives of people during emergency situations, from being tried through criminal and civil cases accusing them of deficiency.
Patil stated that the bill already has got the assent of the President.
