Pakistan-China luxury bus service embarks on maiden trip


Islamabad, Nov 6 (IANS): A Pakistan-China luxury bus service has been launched from Lahore to the city of Kashgar in China's Xinjiang province.

The bus service started on Monday night and is part of an initiative to connect the two countries via road under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The Lahore-Kashgar bus will run for four days a week -- on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday -- while the Kashgar-Lahore bus will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Dawn online reported on Tuesday.

The journey will take a total of 36 hours and the bus will have five stopovers along the way before crossing into China at the Khunjerab Pass.

The one-way fare is Rs 13,000, while a round trip will cost Rs 23,000, according to Radio Pakistan. Travellers will require a valid visa and ID card to make the journey.
