Mangaluru, Aug 28: RSS sent through Seva Bharathi, essential items and items of daily use worth more than a crore of rupees to people displaced due to natural calamities in Kerala. Six loads of commodities including rice, milk, cooking oil and medicines were sent. The items were collected at Sangha Niketan, Pratapnagar, Mannagudde. The sixth load of items was sent on Tuesday morning August 28.
Keshava Smrithi Samvardana committee secretary Raghuveer Kamath, trustees Srinivas Prabhu, RSS local executive Prakash P S, corporation chief organizer Shantarama K M, Sunil Achar, Sevabharathi activists Ramaraya Kamath, Diwaker Bhat, Dinesh and others were present.
RSS has sent three loads of rice to Kerala so far. Three thousand liter milk, 200 box biscuits, 500 box water of two liter bottles each, 50 box medicines, two thousand sarees, 1,500 shirts, five boxes children's clothes, two box soaps, two box candles and matches, three box tooth pastes and tooth brushes, bucket, mug, sanitary box, phenyl, dettol in ten boxes each, coconut oil and other items for daily use were sent in different bags.
“The items sent through Seva Bharathi, Mangaluru will be handed over to Seva Bharathi in Kerala. They will be separated and distributed in Kerala,” said Keshava Smrithi Samvardhana Samiti secretary Raghuveer Kamath.
Items received from Kalasa:
RSS activists and people in Puttur, Sullia, Beltangady, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Kalasa have brought items to Sangha Niketan. Seva Bharathi activists had arranged them. Two thousand sarees and 1,500 shirts were received from Kalasa. “People are helping the victims of calamities. Such human values should increase,” said Sunil Achar.
Canara Springs comes forward to transport goods:
The items collected from donors are being transported by Canara Springs lorries owned by Premanath Kudva. He has provided lorries free of charge for the purpose.
