Mangaluru, Aug 28: BJP Dakshina Kannada SC Morcha president, Dinesh Amtoor, informed that a mega protest would be organized in front of the city corporation premises here at 10 am on August 28 in protest against the transfer of revenue officer of the corporation, Praveenchandra Karkera.
He was addressing a press conference held here on Monday August 27. "As per the instructions from higher officers, Praveenchandra had taken the initiative of clearing unauthorized hoardings and flexes in the city, but a former MLA, using his political clout, tried to transfer Karkera. We propose to hold this protest against this attitude of Congress party," he stated.
Dinesh said that members of scheduled communities are finding it impossible to build their own houses because of the new policy of the city corporation. He urged the corporation commissioner to revert to the rules which were prevalent earlier. Alternatively, he demanded to make changes in the provisions and rid the people of the problems they are facing in building houses.
At the same time, BJP SC Morcha general secretary, Vinayanetra Daddalkadu, pointed out that even after two years since the decision to name Town Hall after Kudmul Ranga Rao was taken, the corporation is dilly-dallying on the issue. He threatened to launch a new kind of protest by holding uninterrupted Bhajan chanting programme in front of the corporation building if a suitable decision is not taken within a week.
BJP leaders, B S Vasanth Kumar, Umanath Ameen Nantoor, Umesh Kotian Vamanbjur, Vittal Salian, Anand Pangala and Vanita Somanath were present.
