Udupi, Aug 26: Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society Limited Udupi organised a patriotic dance competition for high school and PUC students and a felicitation programme for ex-servicemen as part of the 72nd Independence Day celebration on Saturday, August 25 at town hall, Ajjarkad here.
Superintendent of police Lakshman Nimbargi addressing the gathering said, “Soldiers are working in tough conditions. They are safeguarding the borders of the nation. Police system is there to look after internal problems. People of all religions and castes become one under patriotism. When patriotism comes to our mind, we will feel that we are one. A soldier sacrifices more than a police. He is ready for any unexpected situation in critical conditions. People can sleep peacefully, because of the soldiers’ sleepless nights. If there is internal security and external protection for nation, we will have peace and economic development.”
“Every Indian gives more priority to fundamental rights than fundamental duties. If one understands the prominence of fundamental duties, the nation can move forward,” he said.
ASP Kumarchandra said, “Ex-servicemen are the most neglected category and it is very disappointing. There are lacs of ex-servicemen and 60,000 widows in the country.
