Bantwal: Illegal sand transportation - eight trucks confiscated

Bantwal, Jul 26: In an operation conducted at Mani Junction near here on Wednesday July 25, police personnel of Vittal police station, took into possession eight trucks.

After getting reliable information that sand was being transported from the direction of Mangaluru towards Sullia, Vittal police sub-inspector, Nagaraj,  led vehicle verification drive at Mani Junction. During the checking, drivers of some of the trucks failed to provide documentary evidence to prove legality of sand transportation.

The police said that eight trucks were taken into custody and the case was handed over to mines and geology department.
