He highlighted CFP’s remarkable progress over the past ten years in addressing the fertility needs of patients and its commitment to advancing this critical field through innovation and collaboration.
Dr Naveen Salins, coordinator of the Manipal Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre, emphasised the uniqueness of CFP in offering comprehensive fertility preservation care to young cancer patients. “CFP’s integrated approach stands out among major hospitals across the country, making it a beacon of hope for patients facing fertility challenges due to cancer treatment,” said Dr. Salins.
Dr. Karthik Udupa, a medical oncologist and consortium member, underscored the importance of early discussions about fertility preservation between oncologists and their patients. “Providing fertility preservation options is vital to helping patients secure their future fertility while undergoing cancer therapy,” he remarked.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dr Sharath Rao, congratulated the CFP team for their dedication and achievements. “In the next five years, CFP aims to expand its network across the Manipal group of hospitals, extending its services to children and young adults affected by cancer. This will ensure that patients at risk of losing their fertility to cancer therapies receive the care and support they need,” he announced.
