Udupi, Jan 14: "Indrali railway bridge work will be completed by January 25," said deputy commissioner Dr K Vidya Kumari, addressing the media at a conference held at the DC Office in Manipal on January 13.

Dr Vidya Kumari stated, "We have issued multiple warnings to the contractors handling the project. While the initial deadline was set for January 15, they have now assured us of completion by January 25. I, along with the Superintendent of Police, will conduct a detailed inspection of the site in the coming days."

She further added, "The delays have been unacceptable, and we are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the bridge is completed by January 25. Additional inspections will be conducted to evaluate progress and ensure public safety. We have given clear instructions to contractors and officials to expedite the girder installation process. There are many technical issues. Once this is completed, we will coordinate with railway authorities for traffic-related arrangements and proceed with the final bridge connection work."

The construction of the Indrali railway bridge, which began 8 to 9 years ago, has remained incomplete, leading to significant concern among the public. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vidya Kumari had initially set a deadline of January 15 for its completion. However, it is now confirmed that the work will extend to January 25, leaving residents uncertain whether the project will be finished this month or by the end of summer.

The long-delayed construction of the Indrali railway bridge has caused frustration among both the general public and commuters. The incomplete bridge has disrupted traffic and created inconvenience for the local community, including school children and daily commuters.

Despite visits and reviews by elected representatives, including MLAs and MPs, delays continue. The district administration had previously directed contractors to meet the January 15 deadline, but following a review, it has now been confirmed that the bridge work will be completed by January 25.

The prolonged construction has led to frequent accidents on the surrounding roads, further adding to the woes of local residents. Many are eagerly awaiting the project's completion, which will allow for smoother traffic flow and ease their daily commutes.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Arun and other officials.
