Moodbidri, Jan 14: Police arrested three individuals accused of stealing Rs 20,000 in cash and goods worth Rs 48,000, including cigarettes, beverages, and snacks, by breaking into the roof sheets of Jayashree Stores, a petty shop near Mulki Cross in Puthige village, on the outskirts of the town on the night of January 9.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Roshan Quadros (37) from Nidody Neerude in Moodbidri taluk, Nishank Poojary (18) from Nelliteertha in Kompadavu, and Rohit Mascarenhas (21) from Neerude 5 Cents. The police seized assets worth Rs 3.55 lakh, including the car and scooter used in the crime and Rs 5,000 in cash.
The accused have reportedly been involved in over 25 cases of petty shop thefts over the past three years in the jurisdictions of Mulki, Bajpe, Karkala, and Venoor police stations.
The operation was led by Moodbidri circle inspector Sandesh PG, with PSI Naveen, ASI Rajesh, and crime division personnel Mohammed Iqbal, Mohammed Hussain, Akil Ahmed, Nagaraj, Pradeep, Venkatesh, Satish, and Rajesh participating in the successful crackdown.
