Bengaluru, Jul 26: In a case that has come to light with delay, a person, who took his wife to Thippagondanahalli reservoir near here by promising to fulfill her wishes, murdered her by using a knife. The husband stands arrested by Puttenahalli police.

The accused, Satyaraj, a native of Tamil Nadu, had married Shashikala, a distant relative, six months back. The couple stayed with the joint family at a house at Doresani Palya in the city. Although the initial days after marriage went on smoothly, because of compatibility issues, the wife had begun to fight frequently with husband and other members of the family. Shashikala had started to pressurize Satyaraj to arrange to stay separately. On a handful of occasions, she also had created a scene on this issue on the road in full public glare. Her husband used to often fight with her because of her behaviour that was unacceptable for him.

Recently, Shashikala had become pregnant. Satyaraj, fed up by his wife's tantrums, had decided to eliminate her. In the guise of meeting her wishes, he took her to near Thippagondanahalli dam. He led her to a desolate place near the backwaters of the dam, and killed her by slicing her throat. He then threw her body inside the bushes in the forest area.

Puttenahalli police, who registered a missing case about Shashikala, subjected Satyaraj to intense questioning on the basis of suspicion. He confessed to his crime during this period, police said.
