ICYM Central Council Mangaluru diocese opens 4th blood account under Red Cross Society

Mangaluru, Jul 26: ICYM Central Council, Mangaluru Diocese with the initiative of Red Drop Campaign opened its 4th ICYM blood account under Red Cross Society, Mangaluru on Wednesday, July 25, at Ladygoschen Hospital, Mangaluru.

Meer Manish Sequeira, auditor, ICYM Mangaluru diocese, donated his blood on his 23rd birthday and became the first donor of ICYM Blood Account - Red Cross Society, Mangaluru along with his friends Melroy Veigas and Frayan Dcosta who donated blood under ICYM Blood Account (Red Cross Society). Jaison Leroy Periera, Shirthady, president, ICYM Mangaluru diocese 2018-2019, Jackson Eric Dcosta, Vamadapavu - founder, ICYM Blood Account were present.

In the year 2016-2017, on the occasion of 70th year celebration of ICYM Mangaluru diocese, ICYM blood accounts were opened at three blood banks i.e. Fr Mullers Blood Bank, Kankanady, AJ Blood Bank, Kuntikana and KMC Blood Bank, Jyothi under the leadership of ICYM diocesan president Jackson Eric D’Costa, Vamadapavu.

In the year 2017-2018, ICYM Blood Account was promoted under the initiative of Red Drop Campaign with the inspirational tagline – ‘Tear Drops Cannot Save Lives but Blood Drops Can’. On August 15, 2017, ICYM Central Council, Mangaluru diocese organized voluntary blood donation campaign through Red Drop Campaign under ICYM blood account at three blood banks as well blood donation camps were organized through deanery and unit wise. Even donors have donated their blood on their special occasion like (birthday or friends’ birthday) throughout out the year.

ICYM blood account has saved many lives till date and wholeheartedly thanks all the donors who have come forward to donate their blood under ICYM blood account on regular basis as well during emergency situation.
