Puttur, Jul 23: "The accusations that are made against Mohan Nayak with regards to the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh are unfounded. He might not have done this kind of an act. It will be proved now or later that he has not committed any mistake," said Ravindra Nayak, brother of Mohan Nayak, who is arrested in connection with veteran journalist Gauri Lankesh murder case.

Mohan Nayak (53), who is arrested on the accusation of providing rented house and gun to the accused in Gauri Lankesh murder case is a native of Puttur. He is the son of Vasu Nayak, a resident of Kemmai, under Chikkamudnoor village on the outskirts of the town, who used to own a shop called Narayani Store near Aruna Talkies in the town.
Defending his brother Ravindra Nayak clarified further and said, "We know about our brother. We can say with confidence that he will not do this kind of malicious act. Due to some wrong notions, he is arrested. We have information that our brother is framed in this case and we will do whatever has to be done in that regard. It will be definitely known that my brother has not committed anything unlawful.

"My elder brother Mohan Nayak used to do business with me here in the town. Since some years he is looking after our father's property at Mundadka, near Sampaje of Sullia taluk. He has built a house there and is living with his wife and two children. Our relation is still the same. He used to visit me often. He also used to attend family functions here in the town. However, certain rumours that are appearing in the media have caused pain to me,” he said.
