Haveri, Jul 23: This man is neither a people's representative nor he has hundreds of acres of land. However, he has become the cynosure of all eyes for his act of selling whatever little land he had and donating the money to build a temple in his village.

Channabasappa Niseemappa Nitanakoppa (79), a resident of Hunasikatti village near Akkialoora is the model person who is being praised by the villagers for his noble deed.

Presently Channabasappa resides in Kulenoor. He had four acres of ancestral land and 12 acres of land that he purchased from his earnings. Out of this he has sold four acres of land and has donated the proceeds of Rs six lac to build a temple to Kalmeshwara, the village deity of his native place Hunasikatti. In addition, he has also declared that he will donate Rs 10 lac to the historically renowned Basaveshwara temple of Kulenoor village where he is residing currently.

Channabasappa says, "One day when I was sitting in the compound of the temple, I felt that I have to sell my farmland in order to donate money to Kalmeshwara and Basaveshwara temples. I have donated this money in memory of my parents and with the help of my present family."
