Mangaluru, Jul 22: Conference of Religious India (CRI), Mangaluru unit, under the leadership of Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza, held its annual general body meeting at the Bishop’s house on Saturday, July 21.
The meeting began with the invoking of the heavenly graces by the SRA sisters. President of CRI Mangalore unit, Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Sr Gracy Mathias UFS presented the annual report. Sr. Carmine Periera SCCG presented financial status of the unit.
Fr Henry D’Souza, SFX spoke on the challenging topic “Emerging Trends in India and our response as religious”.
Election of local secretary and executive members was conducted by Sr Cecilia BS. Sr Gracy Mathias was elected as local secretary, Sr Rose Agnes AC and Fr Gerald Furtado, S J were elected as executive members.
It was a unique occasion to express deepest gratitude to Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza for the encouragement received from him during the past 22 years. It was also an occasion to wish him for his birthday.
CRI Unit Mangaluru also honoured him as he successfully and gracefully accomplished his mission.
Sr Rose Agnes AC appreciated and acknowledged the great service rendered by the bishop.
Sr Jenice Pauline DHM proposed vote of thanks. Fr Jawahar Jerry Cutinha, OFM Cap compered the programme.
Nearly 600 religious men and women took part in the gathering.
