Mangaluru: Illegal transportation of beef - police seize vehicle, beef

Mangaluru, Jul 22: Police personnel of Konaje station near here, who found that beef was being transported illegally by a Bolero vehicle, took into possession the Bolero vehicle as well as about 3.5 quintals of beef found inside the vehicle. The incident happened on Saturday July 21. Those who were involved with this activity however escaped.

The Bolero vehicle in question which came from the direction of Melkar and B C Road towards Mudipu. A police team led by Konaje police inspector, Ashok, signalled the vehicle to stop near Kayargoly but the vehicle sped away. The police gave the vehicle a hot chase at which the people in the vehicle stopped the vehicle near Mudipu and ran away. The police found that beef made by slaughtering about four bullocks was being carried.

A case was registered in Konaje police station. The police are now trying to find out the whereabouts of the culprits.
