Mangaluru, Jun 12: On the occasion of the 450th birth anniversary of the Alyosian Institute's patron St Alyosius Gonzaga, St Alyosius BEd College is celebrating 'The Aloysius Week' from June 11 to 15 in honor of the young saint.
The week-long celebration aims to shed light on the principles, ethics and spirituality of the young saint through various theme activities hosted at the college for the students. During the week, various theme activities focus on instilling exemplary standards of St Alyosius in all the students.
The theme activities to be held in 'The Aloysius Week' are:
Joy of giving – reflection on sharing of oneself
Celebrating differences- unity and humaneness amid diversity
Ever to love and to serve- focus on Aloysius' selfless service for the plague victims.
Self giving- visit to various orphanages/ashrams
Commitment- essay competition on the theme 'St Aloysius for today'
The Magis- ‘Go set the world aflame’- a reflection on excellence in all things
A quiz on 'St Aloysius' life history and treasure hunt will also be conducted
Throughout the week the institute aims at bringing out the need for a humanitarian approach as exemplified by its patron in all its students, in all they do.
