Karkala, May 15: The fourth batch of Master of Public Health (MPH) students from Nitte (Deemed to be University) will be attending the summer institute at School of Public Health, University of Minnesota, USA. Three MPH students will take up summer school for a three-week period from May 21 to June 9, 2018.
Dr Sugandha BK, Dr Nivedita Laimayum and Sunila Dixit from department of Public Health, K S Hegde Medical Academy received scholarships for global exposure in the field of public health where they will take on additional capacity building exercises like writing competitive grant proposals, project management, global food systems and use of technology in public health practice.
Nitte (Deemed to be University) has a Memorandum of Understanding with University of Minnesota for student exchange programme where students from Nitte visit Minnesota during summer and Minnesota MPH students visit Mangaluru every winter.
Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, registrar of Nitte (Deemed to be University) Prof Dr Alka Kulkarni, dean of K S Hegde Medical Academy Prof Dr P S Prakash and the faculty of department of Public Health congratulated the team on the global health exposure.
