Mangaluru, Mar 28: Women who were sidelined with orthodox labeling of ‘Fit for Household’ are now changing the perception and definition of just being a homemaker. To have an enhanced knowledge and understanding the concept of self sustainment, St Aloysius College post graduate department in journalism and mass communication in collaboration with Spandana Trust, organized an interactive session on the subject ‘Women Entrepreneurship’, here on March 26.
Resource person of the programme Shilpa, entrepreneur, and owner of Halli Mane Rotties shared her experience of initial hiccups until her current achievements. She said, “I have experienced insensitivity shown towards my helpless situation. The circumstances drove me to take hasty decisions, but I made myself strong and clung on food business. My food, especially rotis and stews that I prepare is also recommended by doctors, as it is healthy and reduces the chance of diabetes and other ill effects.” She also emphasized on applying for Mudra Scheme, which has helped her and will help all the other enthusiast women. Later during her talk, she encouraged other women and provided a platform for them by making an announcement of support that she could render in terms of holistic development of their products.
A strong message was given out by Shilpa saying there are comparatively less instances where a business has undergone loss, when women have taken responsibility. This message seeded inspiration in the minds of women present which was clearly evident. Suma, a woman who prepares homemade pickles and other sanitary products said, “Because of family support, the business that I began with Rs 25 now fetches me Rs 3000. We are not in a situation of purchasing a vehicle, as we prepare for four days, and the sales are on, but loaded with pressure of loan recovery. We have bought one and now are in tangled with odd situations.” Shilpa offered solutions on bank loans and also promised to get her pickles to her canteen to have it a best market condition.
Baby, Harinakshi, Aruna, Srilatha and Sunita from Green Kair and many other women present during the interactive session, posed their experience on how the city corporation had personally offered monitory support to start a business. Baby was the one who was benefited by the offer. Anvitha Naini and Vikranth Shetty, students from mass communication, St Aloysius College organized this programme.
