Bengaluru, Jan 28: Both the sons of the late Bangarappa, former chief minister of Karnataka, BJP leader Kumar Bangarappa and JD(S) leader Madhu Bangarappa, have objected to certain content in the autobiography authored by former union minister, B Janardhan Poojary about their father. Poojary release his autobiography on January 26.
They said that they have learnt from others that Poojary has mentioned in the book that S Bangarappa, in a belligerent mood, was about to attack Indira Gandhi. They dismissed this information as false. They also said that Poojary falsely termed Bangarappa as corrupt.
Kumar Bangarappa said that their father had high regard for Indira Gandhi. "I have not yet read the autobiography of Poojary. But I am surprised to read newspaper reports about this issue. I do not know under what circumstances Poojary wrote about my father. But I can say for sure that there is no truth in it. My father never got angry with even grassroot level workers of the party and therefore, it is just impossible to believe that he showed aggression towards the leader of such a high stature," he said.
Madhu Bangarappa felt that Poojary's writing about his father reflects the frustrated mindset of Poojary. "Who gave him the right to brand my father as corrupt? Everyone knows about the ignominy my father suffered when in Congress party. Soon after he stepped down from the CM's post, the Congress leaders filed three cases against him, but in all three cases he was acquitted by the court. Poojary's initiative in mentioning false things is condemnable. By terming my father corrupt, he has committed contempt of court. He has given the wrong message to the people. He has no knowledge of the issues he has written about," he said.
He said that Janardhan Poojary has failed mainly because of his deeds like this and that the people have taught him a fitting lesson.
"Being an elderly leader, he should have the minimum sense that only truth should be conveyed, nothing else. Those who worked on the book too should have taken this into account. Although Bangarappa was acquitted in all corruption cases, Poojary has branded him a corrupt in his book. People know everything and they will teach a fitting lesson to Poojary, whose mindset is known to everyone," said Madhu in angry retort.
