Bengaluru: 13 attacks on police in one week - top cop tells to shoot at culprits

Bengaluru, Jan 21 (DHNS): Following repeated attacks on police personnel in Bengaluru, the Bengaluru city police commissioner on Saturday authorised his staff to shoot at miscreants targeting them.

"Use your power when assailants obstruct you while discharging your duties,'' said police commissioner T Suneel Kumar.

In the last one week, there have been 13 attacks on police constables in the city. "If they try to attack you, shoot them in their legs without any hesitation,'' Suneel Kumar said at a press conference.

Night beat constables have been atacked in Kodigehalli, Jagjivanram Nagar, Jeevan Bima Nagar, Cubbon Park, Banaswadi and KG Halli over the last one week. "It seems, there is no security for the police personnel who guards members of the public," he said.

According to the police manual, the police can use any kind of power to stop a crime. If the situation demands, constables have all the powers to fire at the assailants, he said.

He instructed night beat police personnel to carry rifles without fail. In sensitive areas and in poorly lit areas, he advised deployment of four constables instead of two. He also instructed them to keep in constant touch with the police control room, the jurisdictional police station and Hoysala staff.

He said the culprits in the recent attacks on police constables were neither rowdies nor criminals but were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A team headed by DCP M N Anucheth has been formed to catch them, he said.

A special team has also been formed to check bars which serve liquor beyond the deadline. The police have noticed that some unruly groups party till early hours on the middle of the roads.

The police have closed down nearly 30 bars for a month for violating the rules, he said.

What sort of cops do you have . They are shown as super fit and uncorrupt only in movies. But the Ktaka police in gen are -
    1. They are beaten by public
    2. They cannot resolve a murder case . GL murderers are yet to caught.
    3. They are clueless like the HM
    4. They sleep on duty like the CM
    5. When there is a mob, they flee the scene.
Except for receiving hafta and bribe , they are good for nothing.

Bangalore, police commissioner T Suneel Kumar, first of all, if you can shoot few bullets to the rowdy politicians, irrespective of party, then most of the rowdysm will end.

Prevention is better than cure. After 13 attacks in Bangalore alone on policemen in one week, finally you have woken up. Why you are sending only 2 police men on duty at night...Finally you have agreed to send 4 policemen together. Why the policemen are without proper support and equipment have entered these sensitive places. Why the policemen have not called the control room for back up and logistics support. There is something drastically wrong in your administration and channel of assigning jobs. The planning department has to be blamed. You required more police personnel.

If you don't pay hafta, dishum dishum ! No lathi, rubber bullets or tazer guns. At the highly tensed Indo-Pak border, there were 2 civilian were shot and wounded. In Bangalore 13 will be shot on the leg based on previous week statistics. Is there any provisions to shoot for demanding hafta?

What message we are conveying to criminals by ordering police personnel to just shoot at leg, when attacked ? This may not deter them.
