NEW DELHI, Jun 21: BSP supremo Mayawati on Saturday announced withdrawal of support to the UPA government stating that the Centre has failed to deal with the menace of inflation and is neglecting Uttar Pradesh.
Mayawati accused UPA of meting out step-motherly treatment to her party and Uttar Pradesh government.
Mayawati has written to President Pratibha Patil, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and Congress president Sonia Gandhi informing about her party's withdrawal of support.
Mayawati cited inflation and UPA's failure to keep promises for welfare of 'sarvajan samaj' (all communities) as reason for withdrawal of support.
Mayawati said her party, which has 17 MPs, will decide on no-confidence vote on "merit" if such a motion is moved in Parliament.
