Mangaluru Sep 23: District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai on Saturday September 23 inaugurated the state government's campaign 'Mane Manege Congress' here at Kadri Shivabhag.
‘Mane Manege Congress campaign’ aims to take welfare projects introduced by the state government to the doorstep of the general public. The campaign will enlighten the public on the achievements of the state government and failures of the Modi led NDA government at the Centre.
Speaking during the occasion, Rai said, "Having inaugurated ‘Mane Manege Congress’, we will now take Congress to the doorstep of the public. The objective is to maintain peace and harmony in society, to let know people on the achievements of the state government and failures of the central government."
When asked about confusion on Dasara holidays, primary and secondary education minister Tanveer Sait, said, "From next year we will announce holidays to the schools and colleges based on the schedule of major festivals, excluding festivals related to the Muslim community as that depends on the sighting of the moon. This year a lot of confusion has been created on Dasara holidays. After Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu announced Dasara holidays, request came up from Udupi district and other districts too. So to avoid confusion in the holidays henceforth, we will announce holidays based on the schedule of the major festivals.”
Chief whip of Legislative Council Ivan D'Souza, MLA J R Lobo, corporator Sabitha Misquith, Rauf, Akhila, D K Ashok and others were present.

District in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj on the same day launched a Mane Manege Congress campaign which aims at keeping households abreast of the benefits they have received under various welfare schemes namely Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya, Pashu Bhagya, Arogya Bhagya, Krishi Bhagya, Vasathi Bhagya, Vidya Siri, midday meal, scholarships and a large number of rural and urban development programmes.
The campaign was organized by Udupi Constituency, Udupi Block Congress and Brahmavar Block Congress and was held at Labour Colony Kannarpady Kadekar.
Pramod Madhwaraj addressing the gathering said, "The campaign will be held in all 224 election constituencies of the state. The Siddaramaiah government has created history in four and a half years by executing programmes the successfully. A total of 1.05 crore booklets enlisting the achievements, schemes and programmes of the government will be distributed to every house. The union government has only lied to the public and done nothing else for them. The Congress party will realize the failures of the BJP government. They have not completed any of the promises they had made before coming to power? The campaign will be held at all the booth levels to strengthen the party at grassroot level."
KPCC secretary Basavaraju said, "The Congress government has made 165 promises to fullfil in its term and has completed 155 of those promises successfully so far. The drive is organized to educate the people about implementation of state government schemes."
Minister Madhwaraj launched the campaign by sticking a sticker on the wall of the houses. He personally visited the homes of the Labour Colony people in Kannarpady.
Zilla panchayat member Janardan Thonse, town planning authority president Narasimha Murthy, president of Block Congress Udupi, Satish Puthran Padukere, CMC president Veronica Carnelio, Janardhan Bhandarkar, Dinesh Puthran, Ashok Kodavoor and others were present.
