Mangaluru, Nov 17: Excise officials raided the first floor of a building at Kodialbail Kambala Cross at midnight on Friday and confiscated liquor worth Rs 1.64 lac. The accused, Amit A P, is currently absconding.

A case has been registered under the Karnataka Excise Act, 1965, which prohibits stocking liquor for sale. A total of 101.3 liters of liquor was confiscated.

Prima facie, it appears that there may be a link between this case and the illegal liquor found recently at Abyanadka in Bola village, Karkala. According to excise officials, the case is part of an inter-district and inter-state network.

The operation was conducted under the orders of joint excise commissioner of Mangaluru Dr C H Balakrishna. The team included DK district deputy commissioner T M Srinivasa, Mangaluru sub-division deputy superintendent Santhosha Modagi, excise inspector Sunita, sub-inspector Sudhir A, constable Sandeep Kumar, and others.
