Mangaluru, Jun 5: A grand inauguration and blessing ceremony of the new block of Assisi Central School at Deralakatte was held on May 29. Sr Susheela Sequeira, superior general of the Ursuline Franciscan congregation inaugurated the brand new block.
Fr Denis Suares of Mother of Mercy Church, Panir invoked God's blessings through prayers. He also blessed the interior of the building by sprinkling holy water. A welcome dance by the students kick started the stage programme.

Minister for food and public distribution, U T Khader who was the chief guest spoke on the occasion stressing the need of value based education. He said that the education plays a vital role in a student’s life. He further wished well the management and staff in their mission of education.
Sr Susheela Sequeira appreciated the progress of the school. She thanked the architect, engineer and the team of workers for constructing a beautiful school building where children would be nurtured and strengthened.
Sr Rita Vas, provincial superior, speaking on the occasion expressed her gratitude to those who helped in realising the dream of having a new block for the school. She also wished well the staff and the students, asking them to make the best use of the facilities provided for the integral growth of the students.
Sr Lilly Pinto, secretary of Ursuline Franciscan Education Society (UFES), Sr Leena Rodrigues, deputy secretary of UFES, and Bhaskar K, vice- president of PTA were the guests of honour.
Earlier, principal Sr Juliana Pais welcomed the gathering. Sr Winnie D’Costa delivered the vote of thanks.

Located in the beautiful campus of Shanthi Nilaya Convent, in Bagambila village, 16 kilometres away from Mangaluru on Deralakatte-Kotekar road, Assisi Central School is run by the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters.
The school started on June 1, 2012 with a strength of 89 students with a ground floor. It was affiliated to CBSE in the year 2015 for the primary level and in the year 2016 for the secondary level. Today, the school has 741 students with best facilities provided for the holistic development of a child, with child friendly atmosphere, good play ground, spacious class rooms, well furnished auditorium with seating capacity for 1000 people, well trained teaching faculty, transportation facility, good library and laboratory.
