Mangaluru, May 27: The city crime branch (CCB) led by ACP Valentine D'Souza and inspector Shyamsundar on Saturday May 27 seized 14 kg of ganja and arrested two persons.

The arrested have been identified as Abdul Azeez (35) and Mohammed Mustafa alias Gidi (44), both residents of Naringana, Bantwal.

ACP Valentine D'Souza and inspector Shyamsunder were on their usual rounds when they received information that ganja was being transported in a silver Maruthi 800 car. While they were inspecting vehicles near Kayargoli cross close to Mudipu, they intercepted the Maruthi car and found two persons transporting ganja in it.

On interrogation, the police learnt that the accused had procured 14 kg of ganja from a certain Sheikh Saleem Basha of Palamaner, Andhra Pradesh, and were planning to sell it to people in Mangaluru, and Manjeshwar and Uppala in Kerala.

The CCB police seized the 14 kg of ganja and also the car, along with two mobile phones. The total worth of the seized items is Rs 3,35,400.

The main issue about Mangalore or Tulu Nadu is not hindu/muslim or congress/bjp issues.

crime is the bomb ticking silently in Mangalore (drugs being the highest threat).

Drugs will affect us whether we speak kannada/konkani/beari/tulu/are bhashe/havyakannda or kundakannada....drugs will affect our children/youngsters whether we are hindu/christian/konkani/muslim...

criminals operating in mangalore in drug peddling are the biggest threat to our already troubled tulu naadu...unfortunately this can only be put down by Police department. More and more local police officers should nip this menace by creating fear factor in drug peddlers. we should have local police officers in DK and Udupi districts and not from other states who are here on punishment transfers.
Police officers in charge should be of karnataka origin...preferably belonging to twin districts or coorg, u.k. distrcis..
