Dubai, Oct 5: The inaugural edition of the Arab Premier League, UAE'S biggest hard tennis cricket carnival will get under way on October 11. The announcement was made at a gala dinner in the city on Friday September 30.
All matches will be played at the Ajman Oval Turf Ground and the tournament will run from Oct 11 to 14. A total of 16 teams will participat in the event. Teams from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE will fight for the maiden Arab Premier League trophy and AED 111,111 prize money.
The unveiling of the trophy, fixtures for the tournament and the jersey were launched at the dinner.
Imran said, "Arab Premier League is going to be every hardy Tennis cricket players' dream come true. It is an international platform for the best players and teams from not only GCC but also from South Asian countries. The tournament will hold a lively atmosphere through the day and night with DJ music and fun games for kids and families. Spectators will receive lots of prizes too.”
Some of the big names of UAE Cracker fraternity attended the trophy unveiling ceremony. Irfan Ansari, coach and manager of Sharjah Cricket academy, Rohan Mustafa UAE national cricket player, Afroz Assadi chairman APL, Talal Ahmed M Abdullah branch head, Dubai Islamic Insurance - Aman, Nasser Hussain Patayath, Mohammad Sirajuddin, chairman MPL, Imran Khan, president team Dubai Indians graced the occasion.
