Muscat, Dec 6: It was a magic of youth that mesmerized every child that attended the annual Christmas Party 2007 organized by the Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP – Sts. Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi). MCCP committee leaders adopted an entire new concept of organizing a function for their members’ children involving the youth of the community. Indeed, it was a grand success. Probably, it looked like a new beginning in MCCP’s family entertainment and social environment. Certainly, it was too an inspiration to more community youth to join in the community activities and events and thus to serve the parish at large.
MCCP Annual Christmas Party began with a bang at the upper parish hall of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi on December 5, 2007 at 8 pm. Shannon Pais was the compere of the evening and can say, was also the main attraction. Community has seen her as a graceful dancer but today, she was able exhibit her talent as an ebullient speaker.
Fr. Albert D’Silva, Cap, spiritual director of MCCP offered prayers invoking heaven’s choicest blessings on each and every one attended. Stanley T H Fernandes, current president of MCCP officially presented welcome address. The team of Fantastic Five, Shannon, Meval, Lanston, Duane and Reuben inaugurated the function by busting the balloons.
Four groups were formed among the children and named as Bells, Stars, Mistle Toes and Candy Canes. Full function was filled with various games of entertainment like Tackle the Times, Pirates of Pyramid, Magic of Santa and Squeeze the Quiz. Stanley Fernandes, Eula Pinto and Valerian Dantis were the judges for the various games with Sunitha Nazareth’s timely assistance.
Vakeel, well-known magician of Muscat presented interesting magic show to enthrall the children.
MCCP children under the guidance of Monica Dantis presented carols to bring the real Christmas mood into the celebrations and then Santa delighted all the children.
When the fantastic five concluded the party, everybody felt; Shannon was superb, Meval's music was marvelous, Lanston's Lovely Quiz really squeezed everyone’s brain, Duane was definitely dashing and Reuben's relishing smile was remarkable.... and these fantastic five had a great support from Alisha, Jyotsna, Rhea and Gail, the other youth of the community.
Dilip Correa, the main coordinator of the MCCP was very much pleased with the entertaining event. As reported here earlier, Philomena Moras was the coordinator of the function with a support from Monica Dantis, Shalet Noronha, Vinita D’ Souza, Victor Baptist Pais, Ivan Moras and Naveen Mascarenhas.
