Puttur, Apr 17: An auto driver, who tried to take a woman to a place other than the place she wanted to go, has been manhandled by the locals. The incident took place at Alankar near Kadaba on Thursday, April 16.
Mahesh Poojary from Kayyappe Alankar is the culprit auto driver.
As per details, Mahesh has been running an auto rickshaw for the past one year. A woman engaged his auto on Thursday morning to go to her house in Nadthila. But Mahesh took her in the wrong direction of Nagthi which is situated completely opposite of Nadthila.
The woman told Mahesh politely that he was on the wrong road. But instead of stopping, he proceeded. The woman without finding any way out simply jumped out from the running rickshaw. She broke her hand and leg in the process. The daring woman caught another passing auto and took first aid treatment for her injuries at a private hospital in the village and later went to Kadaba hospital.
The relatives of the woman and local started looking for Mahesh after they learned about the incident. Mahesh was just about to flee from the village when he was spotted. Around 150 people properly manhandled him for his ‘wrong’ ways.
It is now said that the same man Mahesh had tried to take a woman from Kaniyoor to a secluded place around six months back. The woman had managed to run away from the clutches of Mahesh successfully. The following day the woman and her relatives had beaten up Mahesh red and blue. Mahesh had apologized then with a promise of not committing the same mistake again. But being what he is, he repeated the same.
Kadaba police have registered the case and investigation is in progress.
