Doha, Apr 16: Arthur Pais has been unanimously re-elected the president of Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA), Doha-Qatar.
The election for office-bearers for the term 2015-2017 was held during MCA's 7th annual general body meeting at Al – Andulus Club House, Doha recently.
Aloysious D’Souza, emcee for the evening invited all gathered to rise for the MCA anthem. He then gave a brief about the club and the numerous activities that the club has displayed in the seven years of its existence and commended the support rendered by the advisory members and the executive committee. The advisory members in attendance were Felix Lobo and Wilfred Fernandes, who were invited to the dais along with past president Harry Lobo, president Arthur Pais, vice-president Jason Quadros, general secretary Sandeep Noronha and treasurer Clement Saldanha.
President Arthur Pais welcomed the gathered and touched their hearts with his profound words. General secretary Sandeep Noronha presented the annual report for the year 2014 – 2015. This was duly accepted by the members and approved by the president and advisories. Treasurer Clement Fernandes presented the financial report for the year 2014 – 2015, which was accepted by the members and approved by the president and advisories.
Advisory members Felix Lobo and Wilfred Fernandes addressed the audience and their heartfelt words touched the audience. There was a suggestion from the audience that MCA should partake in social activities such as the Green Campaign and provide a helping hand in bettering the environment of the country by putting forward a ‘Plant a seed’ campaign. The suggestions were well taken and the advisories assured that the club would render help and support to the country by putting up various other campaigns.
Harry Lobo conducted the elections for the new office bearers of the term 2015 – 2017. Arthur Pais was unanimously re-elected as the president of the club for the term 2015 - 2017. Nominations for the post of vice-president were put on the floor. Aloysious Dsouza's name for the post of vice-president was proposed by Anitha Pinto and was unanimously selected by all members for the term 2015 – 2017. General secretary Sandeep Noronha and treasurer Clement Fernandes were unanimously re-elected. Jovita Pereira-D’Souza was elected as the cultural secretary.
The committee asked the members to come forward to take up the various other roles in the committee. Alphonse D'Silva, Clara D’Souza, Carol D’Souza and Savious Crasta were elected into the executive committee.
Jovita Pereira-D’Souza, conducted fun-filled and exciting spot games where everyone participated with full zest. Scrumptious dinner was enjoyed by all as one big family.
