Beltangady, Apr 3: A young couple on Friday April 3 consumed poison in a bid to commit suicide. While the girl died, the boy is said to be in a serious condition.

Anusha (22) from Chikkaballapur and Ramesh (24) from Chitradurga came to Dharmasthala on Friday and tried to end their lives on a hillock. Anusha died while Ramesh has been admitted to a hospital.

The incident took place at a hillock in Pudkettichadavu near Neerachilume, Dharmasthala. When Guruappa Gowda, a local, went to the hillock to pick some leaves, he heard screams, and on checking, found the couple convulsing. He immediately called the ambulance.

However, the girl breathed her last on the way to hospital. Ramesh who was in a critical condition was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Ramesh is employed in a company at Hosakote. It is learnt that Anusha and Ramesh were in love, but their families objected to their marriage. Hence, the couple came to Dharmasthala, and after walking along the road leading towards Ujire, they climbed a hillock and consumed poison. As Guruappa saw them there, at least one life could be saved.

Beltangady police have registered a case.

This is one one the things that is absolutely rotten in our culture. If the couple want to marry they should be free to marry if the legally can do so. Why should there be parents consent? Parents duty is to provide good upbringing and provide them with good education. Thats it. Parents to coerce their children into marriage for their own benefit is plain evil.

This couple wouldnt have to do the things they did if they were happen to be in western society. Many of you wont accept what i said simply because most of you are immature.

Why to commit suicide when the constitution has given the right to marry if they are majors. Parental consent is irrelevant.Approach police/courts for protection. Life is a precious gift of god. Do not end it by committing suicide.Only foolish and weak minded people resort to suicides.
