Ballari, Jan 26: A die-hard fan of incarcerated MLA, Anand Singh, it is said, had vowed to slice his tongue if a demigod granted his prayer for the release of his leader. As soon as the MLA secured bail and got released from the jail, his fan performed his vow to the deity by slicing his tongue with a blade.
Vijaya Nagara MLA, Anand Singh, had been arrested on October 17,2013, relating to his alleged involvement with siphoning off of huge quantity of iron ore stored at Belekeri port near Karwar after it was seized by forest department. Muralidharan (43), a staunch follower of the former minister and BJP MLA, who hails from Kariganoor in Hospet, had offered prayers to his family deity, Huligemma Devi from Huligi, for favour in terms of release of his leader from the jail. In return for fulfillment of the prayer, he had vowed to slice his tongue.
Anand Singh secured conditional bail on January 23 this year, and conducted Padayatra in his constituency the next day. Muralidharan had planned to visit Huligi that day to perform the vow. But, the police somehow got information about his vow, and waited at Huligi shrine for his arrival.
Muralidharan came to know about the police action, and remained elusive the whole day. He also had switched off his cell phone. At around 10 pm that day he reached his home, and sliced his tongue with a blade to keep the word he had given to his family deity.
He was admitted to the government hospital at Hospet for treatment. Medical officer of the hospital, Dr Yariyappa, said that Muralidharan was treated for the injuries to his tongue, and that his health has improved.
