Udupi, Jan 16: In a first attempt of its kind in Tulu language, the audio CD of ‘Tulutte Kathe Kenle’ presented by eminent writer Shekhar Ajekar was recently released during the Vishwa Tulu Sammelan held at Moodbidri with the support of Radha Krishna Shetty. The Tulu language has a vast historical background. It is very difficult to understand the original Tulu script.

Times have changed and due to modernization people like to run behind the English language. But this audio CD promotes easy learning of Tulu and this is a unique experiment.

Harikrishna Punaruru, former president, Kannada Sahitya Parishad, released the audio at ‘Sarang Radio’, Mangaluru. Famous Kannada music director Rajesh Bhat composed the title song. The CD comprises of 12 small moral stories and folk stories.

Simple stories for children are beautifully composed with melodious tunes. These include ‘Koti-Chennaya’, ‘Tulu Nadu Daiva’ story narrated by Dr Vamana Nandavar and ‘A Parati Mangane’ story of K Leelavati, presented by Timmappa V K Kadaba.

‘Kalluda Kallurti’ story was narrated by Uggappa Poojary in a unique way. Spiritual personality Purandar Purohit Muniyalu and Soumya Ajekar have also contributed.
“It is a different experience to hear Tulu rather than read it. This effort will provide scope for development of Tulu language,” said Uggappa Poojary.

Shekhar Ajekar is planning to bring out three more CDs and says that this is a small contribution to the preservation of Tulunadu. He has released ‘Paddan Pumale’, an audio CD at Kolluru Sahitya Sammelana and Kolluru Dairy Book.

The total duration of this CD is five hours and it provides relaxation with its melodious tunes. The CD is receiving good responses.
