Bengaluru: Detonator blast at city school witnesses interesting twist

Bengaluru, Jan 14: The case in which detonators had gone off at Saibaba higher primary school in Rupena Agrahara in the city recently has undergone an interesting twist. Madiwala police have now arrested six persons including a contractor of Water Board relating to the incident.

The police investigation has revealed that the Water Board contractor, who had planned illegally to use detonators for undertaking contract work relating to a tank, had thrown them into the trash bin of the said school, after developing cold feet because of the church bomb blast incident. This detonators had accidentally gone off, the police claim.

Srinivas Reddy, Jayaram and Raghavendra of the firm which had got contract of the tank development work, Siraj Nayak, who had got sub-contract, Gangoji Rao from Chikkaballapur district, who had sold the explosive, and Srinivas from Kanakapura have been arrested in this case.

The police said that these contractors had illegally used detonators for a work they got on contract from the Water Board near Madiwala tank. As the church street bomb blasts got lot of attention, they got worried and disposed off the detonators after bringing them near the said school. On January 2, these detonators had gone off in a room of the school, injuring three students. Udupi: Harassment to college student - two in judicial custody.
