PM warns of tough measures on economic front

Panaji, Jun 14 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today warned of "tough decisions" over the next couple of years to improve the country's financial health, which he said may not go down well with some sections, and attacked the way the previous UPA government had handled the economy.

"Taking tough decisions and strong measures in the coming one or two years are needed to bring financial discipline which will restore and boost the country's self-confidence", he said addressing BJP workers here.

This is the first occasion in less than three weeks since taking over reins of power that Modi has made sharply critical comments on the previous Manmohan Singh government's peformance.

"I have taken over the reins of the country in circumstances when there is nothing left behind by the previous government. They left everything empty. The country's financial health has hit the bottom," Modi said.

However, in the short run, such measures may not go down well with everybody, he said.

"I am well aware that my steps may dent the immense love that the country has given to me. But when my countrymen would realise that these steps would result in getting the financial health back, then I will regain that love," said the Prime Minister.

On the other hand, if these tough measures were not taken, the financial situation would not improve, he said, adding "we need to take action wherever required".

"We won't be helping the country by praising Modi and praising BJP. There is no guarantee that just singing praise of Modi would improve the situation. We need to take harsh measures to improve the financial situation," he said.

Shortly later, Modi tweeted that "time has come to take tough decisions in the interest of the nation. Whatever decisions we take will be solely guided by national interest".

Good or bad, the future will decide. One thing is sure as it is said 'blaming others for everything is shows one's own weakness'. Even though I may like PM for some things that doesn't mean that he can go on blaming instead talk less act more, you have the majority you have the power. Do not give excuses this moment! nations great expectations may lead to disaster if the leaders are not put on 'accountable responsibility.' If 'They left everything empty' then start filling now and by the way when you will say 'it is full'...

Why the central govt has to irk the public by raising the prices ????? The people voted, believing that the BJP govt will bring back the BLACK MONEY and India can run for two years without pinching the pockets of the Public. Now WHAT for the govt is waiting for ????? Don’t they have the courage / intention to bring back the black money ?????. Another interesting news is that central govt is telling that there is no stock of coal to feed the plants ???/ JOKE OF THE CENTURY… What happened to the coal stock ??. It is foolish / bullshit to blame UPA that they have taken away the coal stock ..Upa has not physically eaten the coal, their hands and faces are be black with scams. The coal is in plenty in reserves in MINES. The govt should extract the coal and supply to the Plants. There is no SENSE / LOGIC in saying that we do not have coal stock. We citizens are not LKG STUDENTS to listen to stories from grand mothers ( AJJI KHATE ). Grow up central govt, particularly the ZEE News is making a blind DNA test of Coal ghotala.

Modi preparing grounds for postponing "ACCHE DIN ANEWALE HEIN".
Making all sorts of allegation at previous government to ward off attacks on his Government.
He need not do it, if he is not capable or his Government has no capacity to bring back his\their "Ache Din" then they should give up.
UPA had to ride out world depression and they were about to be successful after steering the country well during worldwide hard times. BJP with their hook or crook ways made the public vote for them promising them immediate turn around in the economy. And to make people happy share market was hyped up to current level. Wonder how long it will stay up there.
If BJP can work for the better without bringing in earlier Government's so called misdeeds, then one can appreciate their efforts. I do not think that will happen. Despite the mandate they were handed over, they have already started whimpering and blaming UPA.
They should remember in the not so distant elections people believed their promises for a quick turn around not only in economy but in everything and we are expecting it without their blaming the previous Government. That Mandate is just for that - not to blame but to perform without balming.....`

It should be other way around. Not 2nd spot - hope he\BJP will be able to maintain 7th spot in the near future. All good work done will be undone if the mandate given is misused.
BJP vehemently and stubbornly complained\made a big issue of rise in oil related prices (petrol\diesel etc) during UPA inspite of knowing world market had gone up and our dependency on imports. Now they are trying to tell people to bear with the hiked prices as it is inevitable!!! so also in the essential food front -
We are in for harder times than under UPA Government.

    Modiji,
Its very simple to improve the financial health of the country.
    1) Stop Free Bees to all. This is not required, instead of this:
Provide them with opportunities and for opportunities, improve

    education
    , infrastructure, research & development & manufacturing.
    2) Stop Reservations on the basis of Cast and creed. Change it to Economical levels, because, every one has 24 hours and there should not be compromise on quality. Deserving & dynamic individuals, who are financially backward must be rewarded by way of all support.
    3) All government payment systems to be on line and clearly predefined, either Real Estate or any other for that matter.
    4) Control further creation of black money by way of streamlining direct taxation and payment methods.
When you take up these measures, the financial health of the country will automatically improves and India will become a developed nation.

Wah wah...what a divination from the issue!!!Where is you people's ACHHE DIN?Why Modi accused UPA govt on the issue of inflation , high fuel price, corruptions so on and so forth...What is now he intend to do it?There is one RAPE MINISTER in NDA who got summons and still hanging around ministry!!!ZERO TOLERANCE to atrocities against women!!!Is it? then sack the RAPE MINISTER.There we call BJP and MODI are indeed doublespeak,hypocrites.@least NDA must maintain it's status as not PHOTO COPY OF NDA with regards to inflation, corruptions and 'REASONABLE ACCHE DINS' because if that threat of tough economic measures threat said before election, then one should appreciate the move.

    CORRECTION.

Please read as PHOTO COPY OF UPA.

Modi govt thinking of removing subsidies given to Petro products particularly for Diesel! That alone move would make inflation very high particularly essential goods' price shall go up.If Modi Govt can't do something tangible with regards to above said issue @ least status que must maintained. MODI came high lighting such issue and I don't think citizens would endorse him.

As the say goes "do or die" Mr. Modi your govt as 5 years of mandate where you can take harsh measurement for the love of India. You need to answer yourself and the people voted for you unlike the previous govt where they have to satisfy the MPs and MLAs. Now, we are third powerful economy and the Indian people want to see during your tenure to become atleast the third military power with strongest economy. And you know that middle class people always sacrifice and paying honestly the taxes to the govt, it is the time of richest Indians and those who take freebies from government to sacrifice.

That means Mr.Modi is preparing for the price hikes and giving intimation in advance. If Modi hiked the prices, for interest of the nation. He cannot do any economic reforms and for his in capability he will keep on blaming previous UPA govt. good going. He is a FEKU forever.

    Dear Modiji & BJP :

Whole of India wants answers from you people as to :

    1. Why you didn't allow UPA to pass GST Bill despite several attempts which could have brought down prices drastically within 2 years ?

    2. Why you were not allowing parliament to function when UPA was there ?

    3. Why you were criticizing CBI every time during UPA and even questioned its existence itself. But, now order CBI enquiry even at small issues. What has changed ?

    4. How come onion prices ped exactly very next day of Delhi elections ?

    5. How come when UPA brought down gas cylinders quota due to resource constraints there was huge uproar. Why you want to do that now ?

    6. Why you were against Aadhar which UPA introduced to plug misuse of govt. subsidies & domestic black money ?

    7. Why Rupee strengthened as soon as Raghuram Rajan became RBI governer. But, started weakening once Modi became PM ?

    8. Why there is change in tone against Pakistan, China etc when you were in opposition and now despite their continuing atrocities ?

It is easy to comment, disturb, abuse, pass the buck etc when you are an opposition. Just see UPA's performance despite having a coaliation. Record food production, Infrastructure, Education, Healthcare, Airports etc etc. UPA saved country from going into recession despite all odds & unfavourable opposition and coaliation.

Regarding corruption : Stand up say which party, elected representatives are not corrupt ? UPA gave you RTI to question the whole system. UPA did its best what it can despite many constraints.

Now you have absolute majority. Absolutely no opposition. So, solve all issues. Why only blame past government when you were also a party to the overall mess.

All the best and please keep up all your poll promises to the people of India like us.

    Please stop blaming previous gov't.
    We all know that.
Your priority job is to set the
strict adherence to the law & order area.
We have enough scholars, industrialist and resources in the country to bring our country on top.
First dig out all pending corruption cases, why they are
pending? since when & why?. Warning, suspension and charge sheets are no solution.
eg.Shiv Sena warning BMC to repair the road before monsoon or face strict action, is all eye wash to public. Act, simply warnings on record is old style political gimmick. We want results.

Our PM is right and down to the earth. Populist measures of earlier govt has drained precious resources of the country and subsidy amount never reached targeted people. Coalition govt has played havoc with people. It is time to tighten our belt for development of country.

We believe that under Mr.Modi's rule country's financial position will improve a lot, which the previous UPA govt.had destroyed fully.A thorough enquiry should be made for all financial irregularities of the
previous govt.& guilty must be behind the bar.

We have a twitter Prime Minister.

He has nothing to say. Only to Blame.

Dear Modi your supporters are so eager to say economy has reversed back once you took over the charge.

You are saying required two years for the economy to set right.

After two years you will say need again three years.

You will not succeed in bringing the economy to its blitz.

Your blitz is fitting in the Twitter.

You mean to say two years meter will run slow......
    BIG MOUTHS BLOW....
