Karkala, May 29:
Lokayukta chief Justice Venkatachala arrived here at 11 am from Dharmasthala on Monday May 29, as part of his day-long tour of the district. Assisted by officials, he paid a visit to the taluk panchayat, government hospital and other government offices.

However, heavy rains played spoilsport and prevented many people from being present. A public grievance meet, scheduled to be held at 2 pm at the Manjunath Pai hall, had to be postponed owing to bad weather. So far 37 complaints have been registered which would be scrutinized by a separate judge. The result of the grievance meet would be available in the evening.

Usually the government officials are tensed when Venkatachala visits government offices. But this time around the officials were quite upbeat about his visit since it was pre-planned.  Many of the officials and offices were ready for lokayukta's visit. Files were updated, offices were kept clean and tidy etc to give a good impression to the lokayukta.  Most of the officials who usually come late to the office were present in their offices without any failure on Monday

After the grievance meeting, Justice Venkatachala will proceed to Kundapur on the same evening.
