Kundapur, Nov 24: The muhurtha of mini film ‘Friend request’ by Niranthara Productions was held at St Mary’s college hall here.
The programme started with prayers by Anita R K, Jyothi and Bharathi. Well known advocate and notary T B Shetty presided over the programme.
Fr Anil D’ Souza, retired professor Janardhan S Maravanthe, Janaab Ismail Madani, Khatib of Mavinakatte Juma Masjid; Pravin Amrit Martis, principal of St Mary’s college and famous businessman of Kundapur, Abhinandan Shetty were present as chief guests of the programme. Main artistes of the film Bhavya, Yogish Bankeshwar, Pramila Mendonca, Punith Raj, Karunakar, Roshan Lobo and Belve Suresh Shetty were also at the dais.
T B Shetty, president of the programme said that modern generation gets addicted to internet and drugs these days and besides social awareness, family awareness is also necessary to get over it. May the film create awareness both among students and parents, fulfilling the dream of producer and director, he said.
The teachers present at the dais said that as the film highlights a social cause, everybody should encourage it and well wishers should ensure that it is shown in all the towns and cities.
Rev Pravin Amrith Martis clapped and Abinandan Shetty started the camera and conveyed his best wishes. Producer Janet Fernandes gave a brief description of the story line. Kundapur taluk coordinator Ashalatha welcomed everyone. Film director Vinod Gangolli conducted the programme and thanked.
The film spanning for 75 minutes is woven around a talented girl student. It shows the diminishing family values, social network and the ill effects of drug addiction and the life of students who go after them. It is intended to show the film in various schools and colleges, conduct dialogue with the parents and create social awareness, as per the hopes of director Vinod Gangolli.
